Business Bay

Business Bay was announced in December 2004 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then Crown Prince of Dubai. The plan covered about 64 million sq ft (roughly 5.9 km²) along an extension of Dubai Creek running from Ras Al Khor to Sheikh Zayed Road, with towers for offices and accommodation; the business area was intended to attract companies' local, regional and international headquarters. At the announcement, the project was to be managed by Dubai Properties, part of Dubai Holding. Dubai Holding describes Business Bay as located along the Dubai Water Canal and combining corporate skyscrapers with residential complexes. The canal runs from the Business Bay district across Sheikh Zayed Road to the Arabian Gulf. The district is served by Business Bay station on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
