Nakheel

Nakheel is a Dubai-based real estate master developer. It master-developed Palm Jumeirah, which it launched in 2001; reclamation for the island began in August 2001. The company's portfolio also lists The World, Dubai Islands and Palm Jebel Ali, as well as communities such as Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Park, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Village Circle, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Discovery Gardens and International City.

In 2022 Nakheel repurposed its Deira Islands project into Dubai Islands, a cluster of five islands covering 17 km². Palm Jebel Ali was launched in 2002 and stalled during the global financial crisis, with work on hold from around 2009; in May 2023 the Ruler of Dubai approved a new masterplan for it, and in May 2024 Nakheel announced new infrastructure contracts for the project.

After restructuring its debts, Nakheel was fully acquired by the Government of Dubai from Dubai World. In March 2024 Dubai Media Office announced that Nakheel and Meydan would become part of Dubai Holding and that the boards of both companies would be abolished. Nakheel's business units include Nakheel Communities, Nakheel Malls and Nakheel Hospitality and Leisure.
