DAMAC Properties

DAMAC Properties is a Dubai developer. Gulf Business reports that it was founded in 2002 by Hussain Sajwani, who had previously worked in catering, after Dubai's property market opened to foreign investors. Its shares, earlier traded in London as global depositary receipts, were listed on the Dubai Financial Market on 12 January 2015. In 2022 the company returned to private ownership: trading on the DFM stopped on 15 February 2022, and on 7 March 2022 shareholders approved its conversion from a public to a private joint stock company, leaving Sajwani and his associated entities in full control.

Its best-known community is DAMAC Hills, originally launched in 2013 as Akoya, built around a golf course developed with the Trump Organization; Trump International Golf Club Dubai, designed by Gil Hanse, opened there in February 2017. The company followed it with Akoya Oxygen, launched in 2014.

Several DAMAC projects carry fashion or luxury brands: Fendi-styled villas at DAMAC Hills, Damac Residenze in Dubai Marina with Fendi Casa furnishings, Bugatti-styled villas and Just Cavalli villas at Akoya Oxygen, the Safa Two tower in Dubai's Safa area, whose design Gulf News described as inspired by the jeweller de GRISOGONO, and Cavalli Tower in Dubai Marina, which Gulf News described in November 2025 as the world's first Cavalli-branded tower when its 71-storey structure was topped out.
