On 18 July 2024 Dar Global announced that it would develop a Trump tower in Dubai with The Trump Organization. The National reported that the project would include a Trump hotel, branded residential units and a members-only club, and that it was Dar Global's third collaboration with The Trump Organization, after projects in Oman and Jeddah. At the time the developer disclosed neither the location nor a completion timeline; AGBI reported that these were to be released before the end of the year.

Dar Global and The Trump Organization launched the project on 30 April 2025 as Trump International Hotel & Tower, Dubai, on Sheikh Zayed Road at the entrance to Downtown Dubai. The developer called it the fifth collaboration between the two companies and the first Trump International Hotel & Tower in the Middle East. The announcement described an 80-floor, 350 m tower with a hotel, residences, the members-only club The Trump, a residents' pool, an outdoor pool that the developer called the highest in the world, and two duplex penthouses with sky pools.
CTBUH lists the tower as a residential and hotel building 349.1 m tall, with 80 floors above ground, 491 apartments and 81 hotel rooms. It names Nikken Sekkei as architect, Gensler for the interiors and Gulf Asia Contracting as main contractor. Dar Global's own announcements give the height as 350 m.
In December 2025 Dar Global awarded the enabling works contract to Edrafor Emirates, covering ground engineering, deep enabling systems and logistical mobilisation. AGBI reported that construction had started on the site next to the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road and that the developer's expected completion date was December 2031. In August 2026 Dar Global appointed Gulf Asia Contracting for the construction of the podium; that announcement described the outdoor pool as Dubai's highest, rather than the world's highest as at launch. CTBUH lists construction as started in 2025, with completion expected in 2031.
