CTBUH lists all three towers of The Residences at Marina Gate as proposed in 2014, with Select Group as developer and Aedas as architect. According to CTBUH, construction of Marina Gate I started in 2015 and of Marina Gate II and Jumeirah Living Marina Gate in 2016. CTBUH names Al Jaber and ALEC Engineering and Contracting as main contractors; in 2018 Middle East Construction News described ALEC as the design-and-build contractor, with its subsidiaries ALEMCO and ALEC Fit-out and Interiors handling MEP works and interior finishes.

In April 2018 Select Group began handing over Marina Gate I, a tower of 399 residential units with studios, one- to four-bedroom apartments, penthouses and podium villas. At that point Marina Gate II had topped out and Jumeirah Living Marina Gate was at an advanced stage of construction. A site report in May 2018 put Marina Gate II's completion at Q2 2019; CTBUH and Select Group both give 2019 as its completion year.

The third and final tower, Jumeirah Living Marina Gate, opened in September 2020. It is owned by Select Group and operated by Jumeirah Group under its Jumeirah Living brand. Its 508 branded residences comprise 104 serviced apartments intended for longer stays, 389 private residences including an executive penthouse, and 15 villas. CTBUH lists the tower at 224.3 m with 56 floors.
