Dubai Design District (d3) was announced in June 2013 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a business district dedicated to the fashion, design and luxury sectors, adjacent to Business Bay and to be operated by TECOM Investments, a member of Dubai Holding. The district opened in 2015 and is part of TECOM Group PJSC. In April 2025 it reported more than 1,100 businesses and 20,000 creative professionals, and it hosts more than 100 events a year, including Dubai Design Week and Dubai Fashion Week. In August 2024 TECOM Group announced six Grade-A office buildings for the district, with completion planned by the first half of 2028 (TECOM, 2025). In January 2026 Meraas, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, unveiled an expanded masterplan for d3 covering about 1.7 million m² (18 million sq ft) between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek. It adds canal-front homes, an urban core combining housing with retail and dining, a cultural quarter around the d3 Bowl and a residential zone with parks and sports facilities. Residential projects in the district include Meraas's The Edit at d3 on the Dubai Canal promenade, next to Atélis at d3, and Select Group's Artistry One and Artistry Two Residences. In 2018 Gulf News reported an RTA bus route between the Dubai Mall metro station and d3.
