Bluewaters Island

Bluewaters Island is a man-made island developed by Meraas about 300 m off the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) coastline. Meraas opened it in November 2018 as a mixed destination with residential, hospitality, leisure and entertainment spaces. Its residential part consists of 10 apartment buildings with 698 apartments and four penthouses, plus 17 townhouses. At opening the island also listed 132 retail and dining outlets in low-rise buildings and two beachfront hotels under Caesars brands, scheduled at the time to open in November and December 2018. The centrepiece is Ain Dubai, a 250 m observation wheel with 48 capsules. Dubai Media Office announced its opening for 21 October 2021 and described it as the world's largest and tallest observation wheel. The wheel closed for maintenance in 2022 and reopened on 26 December 2024. A road bridge links the island directly to Sheikh Zayed Road, and a 265 m pedestrian bridge connects it to The Beach opposite JBR.
